MPSA13 is an NPN Darlington transistor available in a TO-92 package. It is a Darlington transistor, which means it has two transistors or a pair of identical transistors inside it, connected in a special way, called a Darlington pair. It has a DC current gain of 5000, due to which the collector and emitter will saturate at very little current, and the maximum collector-emitter saturation voltage is only 1.5V. The transistor has a maximum collector current of 500mA or 0.5A, which is more than enough to drive a variety of loads. The collector dissipates a maximum of 625mW, so it can also be used as an amplifier and preamplifier for audio and other signals in electronic equipment.
